Bankruptcy Exhibit A

I'm in Denver for the week for work and, of course, that means fun rental car to drive for the week. My favorite thing about car rental places now is that they let you choose any car you want from a whole aisle!! Wow, I am convinced that you get to do this so when you get the crappy car you feel like it's partially your fault and has nothing to do with the fact that they only have crappy "intermediate" cars to choose from.

When I got directed to the aisle of choice, my quick assessment yielded Chevy HHR, Chrysler PT Cruiser, and a singular VW bug. Given my previous post making fun of bugs I didn't really want to take that one and my suitcase when have been somewhat annoy to try and shove in the small trunk. Since the HHR and PT Cruiser are essentially the same thing, I just grabbed a PT Cruiser.

I am quite sure there is absolutely no redeeming qualities to the PT Cruiser. It drives like a bus, is just as comfortable as one and feels like it's going to fall apart on corners. Getting on the freeway I had they thing floored trying to get to speed and it still took till tomorrow to get to speed with the engine complaining the all the way. But I think the thing that really tops it off is the fact that the dash joyously reported a fuel economy of a whopping 22mpg freeway. So really, tiny engine and no power and it STILL doesn't get good mileage? If anyone really wondered why Chrysler is bankrupt, allow me to present my rental car PT Cruiser as reason enough.

Next time I'll shoe horn my suitcase into the bug and suck it up.

Hee, hee. Last time we got a PT Cruiser as a rental I spent the whole week trying to open the doors by pulling the handle out. Buttons, seriously?

Sadly it could have been worse if you got the HHR. We had one as a rental once and it was awful. I think it is powered by an out of shape hamster running on a wheel. We had a PT cruiser on our last trip and it was much better (not that it's saying a lot).

LOL, so I'm not the only one that can't remember to push the button to open the door a la 1985. I have also found that the stupid doors lock as soon as you get out and a coworker already warned me that they got locked out with the keys still in the car while trying to get to the airport once. Totally hate this car.

Haha! I hate the PT cruiser too - what were they thinking?! You so should have gotten the bug. I had it as a rental once and it was fun (for the few days), it happened to be a convertible too!

OK, well, I have had the "pleasure" of having both as rentals....PT Cruiser - D.C. when we visited the Tobins....HHR - just last week on a nice 6 hour drive from Louisiana back home.

I can assure you that the PT Cruiser is MUCH worse than the HHR.
